Beluga - a stylish eatery located in the
Foundry, a wonderful 100 year old red-brick building that
once housed one of the city's oldest metal works. The restaurant
complex consists of a 160 seat dining area offering the best
of new cooking - plenty of robust flavours, interesting ingredients
and generous portions - all backed up with impeccable and
seamless service. In addition, there is a suspended wine cellar,
a superb Cocktail Bar featuring great drinks and retro-cocktails,
and a welcoming Café, which spills out on to an enclosed
courtyard, serving light meals and coffees from early till
late.
At Beluga we love cooking - and it shows - from the wood
burning oven inside the restaurant where we bake and roast
a variety of dishes, to our open display kitchen where you
can see the cheerful bustle of some of the city's best chefs
at work.
Cafe Manhattan, an extremely popular eating,
meeting, drinking, dancing, chatting and longest standing
venue in De Waterkant Village. Although much has changed,
the simple and fabulous formula responsible for the success
and popularity of Manhattan, as she is often referred to,
has remained the same. Tthe new Manhattan menu was recently
launched, with a culinary host of new items including starters,
grills and sweet treats
The ever-popular Skyscraper Beef Burger remains firmly on
the table, now accompanied by a Veggie and a Chicken Burger.
Both the interior and exterior of Café Manhattan have
been renovated and redecorated and now make a rather bold
statement on the corner of Waterkant and Dixon streets.
Zeroninethreetwo pride themselves on delivering
a product second to none, beautifully presented and delicious
without being pretentious. The kitchen creates modern fare
that flirts with Belgian tradition and taste, but embraces
the sensibilities of the South African palate. Moules are
a Belgian commodity and at zeroninethreetwo they offer a variety
of mussel platters and pots, all served with frites and mayo.
"Frites" being of course Belgian for fries and part
of the staple diet in Belgium.
Meat dishes are main features on the menu but vegetarians
are well catered for, with three standard main course items,
plus a weekly vegetarian special. From Abbey beers to Trappist
beers, Pale ales to Golden ales and an impressive variety
of fruit beers, zeroninethreetwo has something for everyone.
They can accommodate 120 people for a full sit-down menu -
plus an additional 36 on the balcony in summer, and the upstairs
bar is perfect for a more intimate event of up to 100 people.
The bar can be hired exclusively between Sunday and Thursday
for private functions such as engagement parties, and a range
of snack platters are available to suit all budgets.
